Description

A truly classic and timeless houseplant! Known affectionately as the spider plant, the Chlorophytum comosum is guaranteed to brighten up any room. Suitable for placing in a hanger or for placing on a shelf to let its leaves elegantly dangle down over the edge, the spider plant makes a great beginner houseplant. Native to the subtropical regions of Africa, Asia and Australia, the spider plant sports long, variegated, sword-like leaves, which arch downwards as they grow. The spider plant is also a houseplant that will reward you with flowers and lots of babies that you can pot up and grow your own spider plant jungle.

The Chlorophytum comosum loves…

  • Bright indirect light - they can tolerate lower light levels but they will grow slower and may not exhibit its variegation

  • Its soil to dry out slightly between waterings - water once the top inch or so of soil feels dry

  • Normal room humidity, although they won’t mind the odd mist every now and again

  • Being fed every 6-8 weeks during spring and summer

Non-toxic to pets or humans if ingested

Tip

  • If you can, use captured rainwater to water your plants. Some houseplants can be sensitive to the chlorine found in tap water.
